What's new
Rent v0.8.0
Rent v0.8.0 brings together typed relational data access and optional relationship permissions in a fixed release for applications to build on.
- Define models in RSL, organize schemas across files, and share common fields with model mixins.
- Query through a generated Rust client with relationships, selected fields, pagination, transactions and optimistic concurrency.
- Add relationship permissions when your application needs sharing, inherited access or delegated actions. Reuse common rules with permission profiles and control edits with field-level grants.
- Keep authenticated request access scoped with distinct root and scoped client types.
- Use PostgreSQL extensions and configure connection-level statement and lock timeouts.
This release includes the recent improvements that reduce repeated permission work in recursive reads, eager loading and bulk writes. It also includes the MariaDB relationship-filter correction.
Upgrade
Use v0.8.0 for every Rent crate and the CLI. Regenerate your clients and commit your application's
lockfile. Upgrading from the recent 0.7.x releases requires no schema changes or database migrations.
See installation and the permissions guide to get started.
